Mysterious Stonehenge & Ancient Villages

High on the wind-swept downs of Wiltshire are the ruins of one of Britain’s first and, in some ways, most impressive temple, Stonehenge, dating back to 3000BC. Steeped in legend it never fails to thrill.

The tour will include old villages with thatched cottages and the 10th century Saxon Church in Nether Wallop.

Time dependent, visit Lacock, a 14th century village, and Laycock Abbey, where Professor Quirrel’s defence against dark arts classroom, the potions room and many of the corridors from Harry Potter were filmed. Also used for filming in the recent TV series Wolf Hall.

This tour can be combined with a trip to Bath, where you can see Roman Baths (discover the original spa treatment), Georgian regency and splendid architecture. This is where society took to the waters in Roman times.

Returning via Castle Combe, one of the prettiest preserved villages remaining, where Dr Doolittle was filmed in 1967.
