What better way is there to see London and other places of interest in the UK than by black taxi, complete with your very own personal driver guide.
You will see the sights at your own pace and be able to stop whenever you want to take photos; you decide how long you want to spend at each place of interest and you can even specify your own customised itinerary!
Tours are arranged to suit the individual needs and tastes of tourists from all over the world, and the London black cabs used are the top of the range, most modern design, but with all the charm of the well-known London black taxi.
Air conditioning and intercom make touring comfortable, and the special requirements of the physically disabled have not been forgotten because easy-to-use wheelchair ramps are built-in.
The following are just a few examples and suggestions of the type of tours we provide:
London
By day or by night London is the most beautiful and most exciting city in the world, and Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and St Paul’s Cathedral are places of interest you will have heard about and want to see.
But there is so much more to see with the newly developed Canary Wharf; the London Eye; Greenwich with its Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory; shops big and small; filming sites such as Harry Potter, the da Vinci Code and Braveheart; Kensington Palace, home of the late Princess Diana; Secret London; Jack the Ripper’s London; Dickens’ London and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, to name but a few!
Prices start at £99 for a 2 hour tour up to £340 for a full day tour, with an additional charge of £10 for night time tours.
The Cotswolds
This is the England of your dreams with its sleepy villages nestling in the hills. There are market towns to visit such as Chipping Camden and Stow on the Wold, and the picturesque Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway and Upper and Lower Slaughter unfold as you drive comfortably through the countryside. The Cotswolds are glorious at any time of the year with many old pubs and good restaurants for stops on the way.
Mysterious Stonehenge
High on the wind-swept downs of Wiltshire are the ruins of one of Britain’s first and, in some ways, most impressive cathedrals, dating back to 3000BC. Steeped in legend it never fails to thrill.
The tour will include old villages with thatched cottages and the 10th century Saxon Church in Nether Wallop.
And then it's on to Georgian Bath with its famous Roman baths and splendid architecture.
Stratford upon Avon
Birthplace and burial site of William Shakespeare, this is a must for any visitor to the UK, even if you have been before! Visit Ann Hathaway’s cottage, still set in its original gardens, and extend the tour to include either a visit to Warwick Castle or Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill and open to the public between April and September.
Leeds Castle
What's in a name you might say, for Leeds Castle, perhaps the most beautiful castle in Britain, is actually to be found in Kent, which itself is known as the Garden of England.
This tour could also include visits to Canterbury Cathedral, Dover, or Chartwell, the home of Sir Winston Churchill until his death in 1965.
Hampton Court Palace, Runnymede & Windsor Castle
Used as a Royal Palace since the 16th Century, Hampton Court was one of the many homes of Henry V111 and his many Queens and also home to William and Mary in the 17th Century.
Carry on to Runnymede, famous for being the site where King John set his seal upon the Magna Carta, then on to Windsor Castle, the favourite home of our present Queen Elizabeth, and then drive through Eton Village, passing the famous school on the way back to London.
Typically tours outside London start at £385 and might cover:
- Hampton Court Palace, Runnymede & Windsor Castle
- Oxford & Blenheim Palace
- Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds & Lavenham
- Leeds Castle, Chartwell & Sissinghurst
Extended tours outside London start at £425 and might cover:
- Bath, Stonehenge & Villages
- The Cotswolds
- Stratford upon Avon & Warwick Castle
Harry Potter
With the popularity of Harry Potter, through the books and then the films, we can incorporate visits to some of the film location sites into one of our regular tours or we can 'design' a customised tour, the sole purpose of which is to concentrate fully on the Harry Potter theme. Taking in Oxford University, where some of the Hogwarts School scenes were shot, you could return to London to visit Platform 9¾, Diagon Alley, the Leaky Cauldron and Gringott's Bank.
Harry Potter speciality tours start at £185, with an extended tour of Harry Potter's London & Laycock Abbey at £435.
Shopping Therapy
If it's shopping you want we can provide a tour to fit all kinds of consumer taste.
Whatever you fancy, from the 'flash' to the 'trash', we can cover it all from the grandiose environs of the world-famous Harrods, to one of England's most prestigious shopping mall's, Bluewater, Kent; to Europe's largest antique market in the Portobello Road; to a typical London street market like Camden Lock for a taste of the local culture; or to the craft markets of Greenwich, Covent Garden, etc.
Simply indulge yourself in the luxury of designer labels galore, antiques, craft products or souvenirs, and your guide will take all your purchases and store them for you so there is no need to carry anything - except your credit card!
This list just scratches the surface of what is really available to you and remember, you can choose your own route, stop whenever you want to take a photo or to buy souvenirs, especially in London, and enjoy a full commentary from your driver guide.
Please note that entrance fees and lunches are not included in the tour costs.
